Warren Fishery
The Warren complex has something for everyone, whether you like to pleasure fish or use your stealth to catch one of the many specimen.
A total of three lakes, offering mixed pleasure and match fishing on two lakes with the third lake being a stock lake.
Open all year round and facilities include -
Two portable toilets.
Two large car parks close the lakes.
Although the complex does not currently have full facilities for disabled anglers, the committee is in the process of obtaining plans and designing fishingmareas to facilitate the needs of disable anglers.
The Main Lake :
An old, but nicely matured and picturesque gravel pit approximately 28 acres in size and broken up by numerous islands, channels, reed beds and little secluded bays. The depth of the lake ranges for 2 to 10+ feet, with various bars, channels and silty areas that you would expect from a mature gravel pit.
Stocked with specimen-sized fish of most species and with a good head of Carp, with at least 50% over the 20lb mark and a further 15% over 25lb.
There are 3 known 30lb+ Mirrors with 2 suspected 30lb+ Commons.
Pike also figures heavily on this water with sizes ranging from the usual 'Jacks' to upper 20's with at least 2 thirties present in the lake
The Main Lake also holds many big shoals of silver fish including Roach, Rudd, Bream and the odd Chub. In nearly every swim around the lake you can put a float out with a couple of maggots on the hook and catch Roach and Rudd all day long, great for young anglers just starting out in the summer.
Bream average to around the 5lb mark and swim around in large shoals of around 50+ fish, so a bag of 100lb+ can be commonplace in here, the biggest Bream recorded was 12lb 5oz with quite a few in the 6 - 8lb bracket.
Tench go to an average size of around 6lb, get them feeding and big bags can be expected with them being great fun on light tackle. The biggest fish in recent years was just over 12lb.
Due to being quite close to the Thames and right next to marsh land, the main lake has got quite a few Eels in it, these have been out to just over 6lb and mainly appear in the summer.
There are also a few Catfish with the biggest known capture being 45lb 8oz with another out at just over 41lb. There are quite a few smaller 'kittens' which occasionally make an appearance. Anglers targeting the Catfish must NOT use fish baits outside the Pike season.
The Square Lake :
As the name suggests, a square shaped water and about 1½ to 2 acres in size.Up until a few years ago it was joined to the Main lake but was separated to create a 'runs water' to hold a large head of Carp. Although Over the years it has been stocked with the smaller Carp (under 15lb) from the Main Lake. The biggest carp go to around the 29lb mark and there are also quite a few twenties. The average weight of Carp is probably 10 - 12lb, but there are a good head of upper doubles present.
Although this lake holds predominately Carp, it also holds good shoals of Bream, Tench, Crucians, Pike and all of the silver fish. Plus the Square holds a few hundred F1 hybrid Carp which range from 1lb to around 6 or 7lb at the most due to them only being designed to grow to that size.
The Match Lake :
Although known as the Match Lake it is now designed for pleasure anglers to have a good days' fishing.
Around 2½ to 3 acres in size it has 31 pegged swims, with most of the swims around the lake having reed cover which hold fish, and it gives a feature to fish to.
Heavily stocked with silver fish from the Main Lake, plus there are big shoals of large Bream and Tench to target, 100lb + bags are not uncommon on a good day. Plus if you are lucky you may catch one of the many Crucian. There are also Chub and Blue Orfe.
